A word processor especially for writers
Papel is a free word processing program especially developed for writers and authors.
It's a little complicated to get started with the Papel software, but once you do, it comes easily. Your first step should be to save a project. Then you right click to create papels, the individual pieces that make up your stories. These can be elements such as characters, plot outlines, dialogues or scenes, to name just a few. When you create a papel, the program will assign an icon and display it in the main interface.
To edit a papel, double click, or right-click for more options. You can move the icons around the Papel interface freely, which makes it easy to see how they relate to each other. As a word processor, Papel also works well. You'll have all the basic editing options you'd expect, like a choice of fonts, dictionaries, thesauruses and other options.
Papel has a few options that make it very useful - the main ones being an auto-save function and a back-up feature. You'll also be able to sort your papels by status, in other words, so you can easily see if they are approaching a final version, or if you're just getting started.
Papel is by no means revolutionary, but if you are a writer, then you should really take a look. Papel provides a more intuitive way of transferring your ideas from your head to the screen, while also giving you a view of your work that will allow you to see your story from a much more objective perspective.
Papel is a simple tool that might provide the change of perspective that your writing needs.

Helped a lot in my work!.
I found it very helpful as it gave the option of separately saving work as chapter as well as giving facilities such as spell and grammar checker along with the word count. More

Best software ever..
I've been using this software since I was 17. It is simply AWESOME if you want to get into creative writing. It doesn't have the resources you would expect from a regular text editor, like bold and italic for example, but that's precisely what makes this software so great. You write on it just like you would write on real paper. And it has resources that allow you to split your story into chapters, notes, outlines, characters... Perfect.
Pros:
Pretty much everything.
Cons:
I don't think anything is missing. It is a little bit complicated to get the hang of it at first, but when you do, you realize how awesome the software is. More

Perfect for collecting ideas together. .
This is like a mind map but with little icons marking the points of the map. I spent some time having fun with the themes, and creating my own, which is easy to do if you follow the instructions given in the program folder. It's not really suited to writing an entire novel within this program, but is great for gathering together ideas for characters, action, scenes etc to put in your novel. The resulting notes become text files withing the project's folder. From this, an outline slowly emerges. The outline can then be created in a Word Processor, while referring to Papel. Think of it as a replacement for all those scraps of paper with ideas scribbled on them, which you inevitably lose. As soon as you note an idea in a notebook/back of an envelope, or wherever, ensure that you get to your computer ASAP and put the ideas into Papel before you lose them.
Pros:
Great for collecting project ideas together in a visual form. Prevents losing any thoughts of genius you may have had.
Cons:
I've never got to grips with the more complex aspects of the program such as the compilations. Haven't needed them.Playing with the icons could be viewed by some as wasted time. It would be great if more themes came with the program. More
